Shoddy works led to flood in Mahadevpur: BJP
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Alleging that shoddy works led to the entering and diversion of flood waters from Noa-Dihing river in Mahadevpur circle leading to huge devastation, the BJP Arunachal Pradesh unit has called for making public the details of the work.
In a release, the BJP called for disclosing the name of the firm, contractor, funds allotted, physical, financial target and achievement allocated for the flood protection work at Kakoni village under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).
The finding was done during relief work for the flood affected people of Mahadevpur and assessing the flood damage on July 28 by a BJP team led by State Secretary, Vijay Sonam. During the inspection at the work site, it was found that boulders and earthen matter were dumped on the side of the road as embankment work, stated the release. The flooding would not have occurred and huge damage to public property could have been saved had the project been implemented properly, asserted BJP. The breached embankment had changed the course of Noa-Dihing and had diverted towards Mahadevpur circle.
The work was sanctioned under SDRF in March 2016 and work was done in April. Earlier, the breach on the portion of the embankment near Kakoni village was reported by the Namsai DC and accordingly taken up.
Demanding survey and investigation for construction of embankment on the banks of Noa-Dihing River at Kakoni to be carried out with the help of experts, the party added that sanction for the project should be accorded on topmost priority to ensure that the project is implemented before the onset of the next monsoon.
Meanwhile, the BJP state unit has called for providing sufficient relief materials to the flood victims of Mahadevpur under Namsai.
In a release, BJP claimed that the food items being given by the district administration are inadequate and not uniform in distribution. In some camps, two kgs of rice are issued per person for two days while in others it is only three kgs. Adequate relief was needed as the affected people have lost their paddy fields and granaries.
Earlier, a BJP team of Namsai and Lekang had visited the relief camps set up by the administration on July 28 and distributed food items to the affected.
The BJP also demanded that the verification team constituted by the District Administration should visit all the affected villages and meet the people in person to assess the loss. Mere acceptance of report submitted by the Panchayat leaders and Goan Burahs may not be justified, and assessment of loss of properties and paddy fields should be carried out immediately to ensure that the affected people are paid compensation accordingly, added the release.
Further, the party called for depositing the relief amounts in the bank accounts of the affected or by demand drafts.
BRO to construct tunnels on Bomdila-Tawang road
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Chief Minister Pema Khandu was briefed about the road development works being taken up by BRO at Bomdila-Tawang road and on the proposed construction of tunnels to bypass Sela pass.
RS Rao, Commander, 42 BRTF had called on the Chief Minister who briefed him about the progress of the work.
Two tunnels are proposed that will bypass Sela pass by nearly 10 km, which is expected to significantly curtail travel time to Tawang by one hour.
Also it will provide an all weather road since during winter Sela pass remains covered in snow making journey difficult.
An approach road to the entry of the first tunnel (500m) will take off at 229 km point. The entry to the second tunnel (1450m) from the exit of the first tunnel will be joined by another approach road.
The approach road from the exit from the second tunnel will finally meet the existing Tawang road at 247.5 km point.
Bypassing of Sela pass will make motorable journey easier letting tourist inflow even during harsh winter when the pass remains cut off due to heavy snowfall, the discussion observed.
The BRO official briefed the Chief Minister on the issue of land acquisition on the Sela-Kela-Rama Sapper camp under Dirang subdivision.
He informed the CM that latest technology in cement carpeting is being used for re-carpeting of roads in the area which can withstand harsh weather conditions and had life of more than 25 years.
Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, who was part of the briefing, suggested provision for laying of optical cable fibre along the highway so that later inconvenience could be overcome.
Chief Minister decided to visit the proposed site in the last part of August next. (PRO, CMO)
NES-ANSU calls for arrest of Pul & team for audio clip
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Nyishi Elite Society and All Nyishi Students Union in a joint memorandum have called for arrest of former Chief Minister Kalikho Pul and his team within ten days for the alleged audio-clip issue.
In a joint memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the organisations stated that Kalikho Pul and his entire team should be arrested for conspiring defamatory, derogatory and communal hatred propaganda with criminal intent against the Nyishi community within the given time on the basis of the complaint filed at Itanagar Police Station by ANSU on Dec 15, 2015.
The memorandum also called for custodial interrogation of Kalikho Pul and accomplices by the CBI under the supervision of the High Court to reveal the truth.
Further, it stated that if the law of the land cannot protect the dignity of the community and fails to address the demand, the NES-ANSU may be compelled to go for rigorous movements to protect the dignity and interest of the community.
All options and patience for talks with Kalikho Pul by giving him enough time and space to prove his innocence beyond doubt during his controversial rule of the state has been exhausted, added the memorandum.
APSCW urges Govt. to constitute monitoring body
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) urged the State Government to constitute a monitoring body to ensure proper implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes meant for women and children so that the fruits of such schemes are reaching to the actual beneficiaries.
Attending a meeting organized by National Commission for Women in New Delhi recently to discuss various women related issues of Northeastern states, a team of APSCW comprising Chairperson Mitali Tingkhatra, Member Secretary Yame Higio and Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills Professor Vandana Upadhyay highlighted the various issues which the women are facing in Arunachal Pradesh.
APSCW Chairperson Tingkhatra and Vice Chairperson Nabam Yabang also attended a one day meeting on "Rights of Survival of Human Trafficking in Northeastern States" at Guwahati on July 29 conducted by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
During the interaction meeting, all the representatives of Northeastern States gave emphasis on good coordination among affected states to tackle the human trafficking by involving stakeholders, NGOs and general public.
BJP stages rally, demands better roads

MIAO, Aug 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Miao Unit on Monday took out a peaceful protest rally to press for early completion and maintenance of roads under 50-Miao assembly constituency.
Prior to the rally which commenced from Miao Bazaar and concluded at the ADC's office, a brief public meeting was conducted where the party leaders expressed their resentment over the prevailing bad communication network in the constituency. Almost all the roads in Miao Sub-Division are in a dilapidated state for lack of maintenance or not being completed on time.
In a memorandum, the BJP Miao Unit stated that common people are suffering a lot due to pathetic road communication.
BJP Miao Unit gave two months to complete the road construction.
Responding to the public memorandum, ADC Miao T.Mara said that the bad road connectivity was not only affecting the lives of the common man but even the government functionaries and departments. He assured to do his part in forwarding the grievances of the people to the government for early redressal.
The incomplete roads are 157 kilometres Miao-Vijaynagar Road , which is currently being constructed under PMGSY scheme, Miao-Namchik Road whose construction have been going on for some time now and is the life-line of Miao Sub-Division, sanctioned under NLCPR and the village link roads and the bridge over Buri-Dihing which started construction about a decade back but yet to be completed.
The members of BJP Miao Unit led by Hunpong Tangha, President of the mandal, the members of Yuva Morcha were present besides District President Ngyilang Tangha, General Secretary District Unit Gumjanong Singpho and Chamjong Haidley who was the party candidate from Miao during last assembly election.
State Executive Council member Thiksal Morang and National Executive Council member and former minister Samchom Ngemu were also in attendance.
Students union threatens agitation over buffer zone issue
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: All Pakke-Kessang Pijerang Dissing-Passo Seijosa Students' Union (APPDSSU), which has been demanding to revoke the order declaring the areas around Pakke Tiger Reserve as buffer zone/ Eco-Sensitive Zone, has threatened to launch democratic movement, if the authority does not pay heed to their demands
Claiming that majority of the residents of the concern area oppose it, the union, in a representation, demanded the Chief Secretary to constitute a high power committee with people of the affected area within a week and also to ask the department concerned to form an expert committee with affected people to study the matter seriously.
The union alleged that the declaration was made arbitrarily whereas the limits of such areas should be determined on the basis of scientific and objective criteria in consultation with the Gram Sabha and expert committee. But with regards to this instant case, these criteria were not maintained and blatantly overlooked.
Director Environment Oni Dai passes away
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Director Environment Oni Dai, (IFS) has passed away on July 31 at RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar following a cardiac arrest.
He served the Department in various capacities in different divisions and currently was holding the post of Director (Environment).
The body has been taken to his hometown Pasighat for the final rites.
Dai is survived by his wife, 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Born on Nov 7, 1959 at Balek Village, Pasighat, Dai did his schooling at Balek School and Hr. Secondary Pasighat. After completing graduation in 1981 from JNC Pasighat in B.Sc, he joined the state forest service as ACF in 1983. In course of time, he was promoted to DFO and later on inducted into Indian Forest Service in 2012.
Meanwhile, officials and staff of PCCF observed two minute silence as a mark of respect to late Dai. They have conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family to withstand the tragedy.
Meanwhile, Kibo Erang, Pasighat has expressed their sadness on the demise of Oni Dai.
BJP opposes WRD as implementing agency of solar street light scheme
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: BJP has raised strong objection to implementation of solar street light scheme under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) by the Water Resource Department (WRD), Seppa, saying that the department was not a technically competent agency to implement the project.
A proposal was made to provide solar home lighting system to 300 household of Bameng and Khenewa CD block at an estimated cost of Rs.30.00 lakh each @ Rs.l 0,000 per household during 2015-16.
But surprisingly, the then DC has changed the name of the scheme to 'Solar Street Light' and proposed to purchase 90 street lights for each block and entrusted WRD to implement the scheme, BJP's Vijay Sonam has informed in its complaint letter to East Kameng Deputy Commissioner.
According to him, the street lights under BADP have been proposed to install in Govt. residential and non-residential buildings instead of lighting the houses of the targeted people.
This is against the very intent of the border area development programme and its guidelines, said Sonam.
He also informed that the WRD department is going to purchase the street light @ Rs30,000 per street light (excluding installation costs) whereas, he claimed, there are parties to provide the same at Rs.28,000.
"I am totally against the list of places proposed by the ADC, Bameng for providing solar street light and the manner in which the WRD Seppa is intending to purchase the street lights at Rs.30,000 per street light," he said.
He suggested that the installation of street lights should be started from the last border village giving priority to Bameng and Khenewa and also, there should be open tendering for purchase and installation of solar street light.
"The list of places suggested by ADC Bameng is not justified. One solar street light per village norms will not serve the purpose," he said, and urged the DC to oversee the implementation of the project ensuring that no residential or non-residential govt. buildings are covered under this BADP.
Effort to streamline traffic and garbage management
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Taking cognizance of the growing traffic congestions, poor road conditions in Capital Complex and proper solid waste management of the twin capital city, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday convened a high level meeting with departmental officials and reviewed the issues.
Khandu constituted a six-member Interim Committee to make a thorough case study of traffic congestions and come out with a definite solution. He called for a clear- cut solution to the issues and directed concerned officials to submit the report latest by 13th of this month. He advised them to take into consideration the views and suggestions of the citizens expressed through the online Survey Management System with regard to traffic management and road conditions of the state capital city that was recently launched by the govt.
Pointing that garbage collection is another issue that needs to be managed properly, the CM asked the DC Capital to make a proper plan of garbage collection so as to make the state capital garbage free. He also assured to give full support to the Itanagar Municipal Council and Urban Development Department for garbage management. He asserted that the Administration, Urban Development and the Itanagar Municipal Council must work in tandem to manage the problem.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, also present in the meeting, said that need of the hour is development of civic sense among the capital dwellers. He stated that Waste Management is a part of cleanliness drive; people must change their mindset and inculcate a habit of cleanliness to make the city garbage free.
MLA P D Sona participating in the discussion, suggested that the state capital adopt and use Information Technology in garbage management system in line with other metropolitan cities of the country.
Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin suggested charging minimal amount of fees from citizens so as to make the garbage management system self sustainable.
Chief Councillor of Itanagar Municipal Council, Kipa Kaku sought the help and support of the govt and HoDs of various departments in proper Waste Management of the capital city.

Assets claim on Murkongselek-Pasighat route verified

RUKSIN, Aug 1: Following an instruction of East Siang DC, District Revenue & Land Settlement Officer (DR&LSO), Ojing Nangkar along with administrative officials and NF railway (Construction) engineers on Monday visited Ruksin-Ngorlung site and verified reported existence of properties and assets along proposed Murkongselek-Pasighat BG railway (Extension of Rangiya- Murkongselek rail route).
The portion of railway from NH-52 to Sille river at Niglok (from 2.60 km to 8.20 km) falls under Arunachal territory and is included in first phase construction work. The team comprising LRSO, Ruksin ADC, T Pada and NF railway engineers made verification of properties and assets along the railway as claimed by the affected families.
The team will submit the report to the authority for fixation of rates against the assets.
The members of Railway Survey Affected Land Owners Committee led by Daniel Pada and local GBs also assisted the team in their survey works. There are a total 41 affected families in this portion, of which 30 families have major assets. The rate for land compensation against the railway has already been settled by the authority.
It needs to be mentioned here that the proposed railway line linking Murkongselek (Assam) station and the historic Pasighat town of Arunachal Pradesh was one of the two major rail projects in the Northeast announced by the then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, during 2010. As per the survey report, the proposed railway line is covering about 151.30 hectares of fertile cropland at Ruksin, Ngorlung, Sille, Rani and Yagrung villages in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The total length of the Murkongselek-Pasighat railway line is 26.5 km, of which 24.5 km falls within the Arunachal territory.
Mass prayer conducted for peace in Bhalukpong
BOMDILA, Aug 1: A Jinseg Pooja - 'Maha Yagya' was organised at Bhalukpong, West Kameng on Monday for peace and tranquility in the area by the Bhalukpong Buddhist Association.
Guru Tulku Rimpoche and monks from the Thubchog Gatseling Monastery, Lower Gompa Bomdila offered prayers for the peace of the departed souls who had lost their lives in the tragic July 1 incident at Bhalukpong Circuit House complex. A total of ten people had died due to the rain triggered landslide and huge amount of properties were lost.
The relatives of the deceased were also present in the Jinseg pooja. Praying for the swift rebirth of the departed souls, the Rimpoche expressed his condolences to the members of the bereaved families and said that, the Jinseg pooja is done to liberate the souls and advised the members of the bereaved families to be spiritually strong and to cultivate more merit in one's life.
Earlier elaborating on the need to go for such Maha Yagya, Bhalukpong Buddhist Association, president, Kesang Wangda said that such measures wards off tragic incidents affecting the life and properties of the people. It facilitates peace to the departed souls and also paves the way for peace and tranquility in the area.

Team selected for National Karate Championship
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Arunachal Wado Kanshinkai Karate-Do Association has selected a team of 18 players from the state to participate in the forthcoming 1st Wado National Karate-Do Championship 2016 to be held at Vadodara in Gujarat from August 6 to 7 next.
The team will be led by Coach Tao Amit and manager Bigam Doke Lendo.
'Encourage youth towards adventure sports'
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Taka Tamut and Kisen Tekseng have successfully completed the Stok Kangri Peak (20,164 ft) summit at Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir on July 31, informed the youth wing of Adi Baane Kebang.
While admiring the courage and achievement of the young mountaineer duo, the youth wing of Adi Baane Kebang appealed to the State Government to encourage the youths towards adventure sports through proper training, guidance and sponsorship.
Both Taka and Kisen are also reportedly prepared for another summit, the ABK youth wing informed.

ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Dooying Golong FC trounced Nulu Nubu FC 12 - 1 in a one-sided third day match of the Itanagar Solung Football Tournament-2016 here on Monday.
The Dooying Golong FC toyed with the Nubu Nulu FC scoring at their will. Honuk Tayeng alone scored 7 goals for his team Dooying Golong. Ojudiya Modi netted two goals while Sujeet Panging, Mosi Saroh and Sumeet Panging scored one goal each for the winning team.
The consolation goal for Nulu Nubu was scored by Talem Mangkeng.
The first match of the day played between Solung United and Golgii Bote ended in a 1-1 draw.
Tajing Jerang of Solung United scored the first goal in the 15th minute which was equalized by Tatbang Pertin of Golgii Bote.
In the opening match played at AP Bn ground, Chimpu on Saturday, Naharlagun Solung Yameng FC (NSYFC) beat Siang United FC (SUFC) by 1-0. Altogether, 16 teams are participating in the tournament.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Itanagar Solung festival football tournament, Arunachal Pradesh Football Association Secretary Kipa Ajay, said that the state government has kept 10 % job reservation for the meritorious sportspersons of the state. He asked the professional sportspersons to take up sports sincerely with devotion to bring name, fame and laurel for the state and the country as a whole. Ajay also appealed the players to maintain discipline and sportsmanship while playing. He announced rupees fifty thousand from the association fund for the next year tournament.
APP Bn Commandant cum Papum Pare S P Tojo Karga said that sports is an integral part of tribal community. The football is one of the important games, he said adding it helps the players to stay fit and smart.
SFCCI President Tapi Gao, Secretary Geyon Tayeng also spoke on the occasion. Secretary Education Bidol Tayeng, Director Trade & Commerce Tokong Pertin, APSTS GM Abu Tayeng among others were present.
The quarter final of the tournament shall be played on August 11. Semi final will be played on August 13, while final match is scheduled to be held on August 15.
Massive landslide in Famla
TAWANG, Aug 1: Occurrence of massive landslide in Famla area is reported from Tawang putting five houses at the risk of getting washed away.
Four families in lower Gyangkhar were shifted to safer locations after cracks appeared in their residential buildings, of which two were RCC.
Further, various damages to agricultural land as well as standing crops have also been reported. (DIPRO)
PPWC to go ahead with Pasighat bandh

PASIGHAT, Aug 1: Dissatisfied with Sunday's meeting held with officials of power department, Pasighat Peoples' Welfare Committee has decided to go ahead with its proposed Pasighat bandh on August 6 next.
PPWC Chairman Okom Yosung and General Secretary Oyin Moyong has said that, no satisfactory assurance was received from the concern authorities to solve the power crisis in the township forcing the organization to go ahead with bandh.
IDAPF to impose social boycott
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Immediate Downstream Affected Peoples' Forum (IDAPF) has decided to impose "social boycott" on District Administration after the latter failed to scrap the Phanchung Hydro Electric Project in Pachi River even after submission of numerous memoranda opposing it.
Informing that an intimation letter in this regard has already been submitted to the administration, IDAPF appealed to the people of the state, particularly immediate affected people to extend their full support to the Forum in its movement against the hydel project.
The movement would peaceful and democratic, it said.
The Forum which has been opposing the Phanchung Hydro electric project in Pachi river since its beginning stated that existence of two dams within a span of 1 km will pose serious threat to the people living upstream and downstream.
Residents repair road
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Hundreds of residents of Nirjuli Village-II, CLF Colony, Rayo, Anya, Hokum, Emi, Jate and Yarkum Village repaired the road from NH 415 to Jate village in Nirjuli as part of a social service conducted by the Nirjuli Village-II/ CLF Colony, Rayo, Anya, Hokum, Emi, Jate & Yarkum Village Road Development Committee on Saturday.
The volunteers also cleared and repaired the drainage alongside the said road.
Run for cleanliness organized at Hawai
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: More than 200 people from all sections of the society, including students and government employees participated in a run for cleanliness at Hawai, Anjaw on Monday.
The mini marathon race of around 4 km organized as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and My City My Pride campaign by district administration in collaboration with DUDA started from UD Guest house to Helipad ground in Hawai.
Wind cheaters displaying SBM logo printed with cleanliness message were distributed among the participants.
All the participants took the cleanliness pledge administered by the Deputy Director UD & H Hemer Ete pledging to render 100 hours in a year (or 2 hrs in a week) of labour towards cleanliness of their surroundings.
The race was flagged-off at 7 am by Zilla Parishad Chairperson H. Towsik in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mamata Riba.
The programme was among the series of various awareness activities being planned this fortnight upto Independence Day celebration in Anjaw.
Union seeks release of monthly wages
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) Capital Unit on Monday urged the Chief Minister to release monthly wage of staff and labourers working under various departments. In its representation, AAPLU Capital unit informed that many labourers and staff are not getting their monthly wages. Citing that staffs working under Arunachal Pradesh Forest Cooperation ,Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resource, Power Electrical, APEDA and UD are not getting their wages since past four/three months, it also claimed that as per government notification their wages are not enhanced. The union further requested the Chief Minister's office to intervene and ensure early release of LOC of mentioned departments so that labourers can be paid.
Awareness camp on traffic conducted
AALO, Aug 1: Hundreds of NCC students from GHSS, Aalo and Scouts and Guides from PI Middle School took part in a day-long awareness camp conducted here on Monday to generate awareness on proper vehicle parking.
Jointly organized by the United Students' Federation of Aalo (USFA), a local NGO in collaboration with the Police department, the camp was aimed at regulating haphazard parking of vehicles in crowded areas of the township.
During the camp, USFA President and General Secretary Markar Lollen and Dojum Ete said that such camps will help inculcate sense of proper vehicle parking and appealed to all citizens to cooperate and park their vehicles in proper manner to avoid traffic congestions. They also appealed to the two-wheeler riders to use helmets for their safety. (DIPRO)
Moyong visits Yagrung, takes stock of situation

PASIGHAT, Aug 1: Pasighat-East MLA, Kaling Moyong on Monday visited Yagrung village under Pasighat circle in East Siang and took stock of the damages incurred during the last monsoon.
During visit, the MLA interacted with the local villagers of Yagrung and heard their grievances. The villagers informed the MLA that the overflowing Poglek river (locally known as Pagla Korong) had damaged several acres of standing crop of paddy and deposited sandy silt in the fields.
Accompanied by engineers of PWD and other engineering departments besides, local leaders, Moyong further inspected the bridge construction work at Poglek and Tolon rivers at Yagrung village along Pasighat-Ledum-Tene-Koyu (PLTK) road. The project worth Rs 18.03 crores was funded under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resource during March, 2014 and is being implemented by Pasighat division of PWD. He also instructed the officials of executing department for early completion of the project.
Lohit DC reviews academic performance of schools
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: Lohit Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf in a meeting on Monday reviewed the academic performance of various schools in the district and instructed principals and headmasters to take appropriate remedial measures to further improve the performance of students.
Expressing his concern over poor performance of few schools in this year's class 10 12 examinations, the deputy commissioner asked the authorities of those schools to initiate some measures to improve the results, particularly in subjects in which students have shown poor results. He assured his every possible help and support for it.
Responding to a request from Principal of GHSS Jeko, Ashraf assured him to arrange a special team for Aadhar card preparation as well as to open bank account for students.
NPF to strengthen grass root workers
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Naga People's Front (NPF) of Longding district called upon its party activists to galvanize the party at the grass root level.
During meeting of the office bearers and party workers, district unit president Thangkai Khumsumchai expressed concern over political uncertainty in Arunachal Pradesh.
He further appealed to his party worker to face any eventuality including midterm poll if it is being called in the state. The NPF alleged that national political parties often neglects Longding district.
ATMA demands payment
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The Arunachal Pradesh ATMA Association (APAA) has sought payment of pending salary of ATMA staffs for the months of January to June.
‘.. in the ATMA guidelines there is an increment of 10 percent of the salary annually but we haven't been paid yet,’ it said in its representation to the chief minister also urging payment of the 10 percent annual increment.
The association further requested for regular payment of the salaries.
Shortage of DGMOs
'ITANAGAR, Aug 1: All Tagin Students' Union (ATSU) has written to the state health services for providing sufficient general duty medical officers (GDMOs) at District hospital, Daporijo saying that its shortage is hampering the functioning of the hospital.
Last time around four GDMOs working here were transferred with no relievers, it said.
New bus demanded
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: The member of the 35th Tubung Balijan Panchayat under of Lower Balijan, on behalf of the people of the panchayat, in a memorandum, has appealed to the General Manager, State Transport Service, to allot a new bus for the convenience of the passengers of the area.
The Panchayat Member lamented that an old and worn out bus has provided in the route, which, in fact is causing great inconvenience to the passengers instead of giving succor to them.
ALSDSU condemns alleged sexual harassment
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: All Lower Subansiri District Students' Union (ALSDSU) has condemned DMO Dr. Moli Riba for his alleged sexual harassment on a woman recently.
Demanding his stringent punishment, if found guilty, and not to grant him bail, ALSDSU appealed to all not to communalize the issue.
It also urged the State Government to cancel his doctor's license and terminate from the post and department.
MLA lauds ABVKA
ITANAGAR, Aug 1: MLA Kaling Moyong lauded the efforts of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ahram (ABVKA) and its state unit Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) in the preservation and promotion of the indigenous faith and culture of the tribal people.
Addressing the 3-day regional (NE) spiritual awakening meeting of ABVKA, which concluded in Pasighat on Sunday, Moyong opined that the coming generation should also be instilled with the pride of the rich cultural heritage of the tribal communities so that they can carry this forward.
President of the Nyishi Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society (NIFCS) Pai Dawe, who also attended the valedictory function, said that his society draws inspiration from the pioneers like Golgi Bote Talom Rukbo and is committed to follow his path for the preservation and promotion of the faith and culture.

Crime against women increasing day by day
The allegation levelled by a female colleague against district medical officer (DMO) Ziro alleging sexual harassment at work place is matter of deep concern. This is the second time that a senior government official has faced such kind of allegation. Earlier in June this year the deputy resident commissioner of Kolkata was alleged by a senior staff member of the Arunachal Bhavan of molesting her. The two incident highlights how female govt officials are not safe even at work place. The DMO is currently in judicial custody. Proper investigation should be done by the police, so that justice prevails.
State government should take serious note of these increasing cases of crime against women at work place. Arunachal has always prided itself for being a safe place for the womenfolks. But over the year several incidents of rape and molestation has been reported from various parts of the state. On many ocassion police and administration has been found wanting. They have failed to deliver justice to the victims in such cases. There are times when victim are forced to compromise due to the pressure exerted by the accused’s family member. Also the rate of conviction is very low. Most of the accused manages to get away even after committing heinous crime of rape and molestation. This is happening due to shoddy investigation carried out by the police. State government has a huge role to play in this regard.

Apropos the result notification of PWD for the various posts of LDC/UDC/PA/Draughtsman, which was held almost a year ago, many candidates have lost their admit cards and are unable to recall their roll number as there has been delay in announcement of the results.
So it is requested that the PWD, Arunachal Pradesh make its website operational and upload the name of the successful candidates. In the newspaper they have said that the result is uploaded in www.arunachalpwd.org but one fails to find the result section.

Cosmos and letters
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the letter of the "Confused citizen" titled "Readers Forum"(July 29).
He/she has protested against the publication of letters of a certain reader who connects cosmos, God and universe with every issue of human life.

However just because I fail to grasp the spiritual comments of a certain reader or
writer of Arunachal Times(just like the "confused citizen"); I cannot hold any moral,
democratic or Constitutional right to ask the Editor of the daily to refrain from
publishing such thoughts and letters. Since India is a democratic country where
all its citizens are empowered to exercise their right of free speech and expression,
our "spiritual" brother/sister holds every authority to convey his/her thoughts even
if those are incomprehensible and bankrupt to the extreme. Yes, all Indians should
be allowed to read, write, think, act according to their own respective wishes; but
without disturbing or insulting the sentiments of others and by residing in the side
of law. Now our philosopher friend has neither committed any crime by connecting
cosmos, God and universe with every issue of human life nor insulted and belittled
others. So instead of trying to throttle his/her pen, the "confused citizen" should
try to be tolerant towards the writings of our cosmos-
The "confused citizen" has also tried to gag those voices which are "out of context
of Arunachal's point of views"! Firstly, spirituality and philosophy are universal
subjects. And Arunachal Pradesh is also part of this Universe only. So the writings
of our philosophical friend can never be termed as "out of context" as far as Arunachal
Pradesh is concerned. Secondly, the respected noble daily can bear 'Arunachal' in
its name. It can be published in that exquisite beautiful state. But it is not confined
in that state only. Its online edition can be accessed across the globe thanks to
Internet. So Arunachal Times is now an international or universal daily. So how can
our "confused" friend dare to limit it to a mere Arunachal daily only? Yes, the daily
should definitely come up with local problems and issues, but how can it shun national
or global issues despite its widened global reach? And lastly, which letter or article
should get published in the pages of Arunachal Times or not can be decided or dictated
by neither the "spiritual writer" nor the "confused citizen". A certain Kajal Chatterjee
also does not possess such right. Rather the publication or non-
